UCL (University College London) published research from UCL Grand Challenges of Cultural Understanding.
UCL's Grand Challenge of Cultural Understanding explores the complex, changing ties among people, communities, and cultures.
As the world grows more connected, we must understand each other's religions, politics, and heritages. This will determine how well we adapt to future challenges. UCL's Grand Challenge of Cultural Understanding fosters interdisciplinary work with external partners. The goal is to achieve real-world impact.
UCL Grand Challenges aims to bring researchers together from across UCL, setting the agenda for future research, while building bridges with external partners. This collection collates published research and output from funded projects.
UCL's 2034 vision promotes bold ideas and teamwork across different fields to tackle global challenges.
To support this, UCL Strategic Plan 2022-2027 has expanded the Grand Challenges programme with an additional £25m over eight years. The plan supports interdisciplinary collaboration, community-building, and innovation, to influence UCL's activities and educational offering.
UCL's Grand Challenges programme works to fund, support and facilitate new research, education and industry partnerships that work across the boundaries of academic disciplines.
The programme reports directly to the Vice-Provost (Research, Innovation & Global Engagement). Each Grand Challenges theme has appointed academic leaders. There are two academic leads per theme (Pro-Vice-Provosts - PVPs) who are supported by a team of Directors, Coordinators, and Programme Management staff.
We do this by awarding funding to UCL researchers, funding major projects, organising and supporting events and academic roundtables, building partnerships, providing an educational offer, and working closely with colleagues across the university and beyond.
