Abstract In this article we will reflect on the treatment of the notion of environment in Law No. 55, on the Environment of the Argentine province of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and the South Atlantic Islands (AeIAS), and its socio-environmental implications. To do this, we will analyze the different meanings of this concept from the human-nature relation, a controversial binomial of modernity. From the historical-spatial context offered by the Anthropocene, we will offer an approach to the conceptual bases of the law from three interdependent approaches. The didactic value of this exercise lies in finding the conceptual bases of current legislation, in order to understand the underlying ontological, epistemological and ideological positions. The discussion that arises from this analysis reveals the importance of (re)politicizing environmental education.
